Florida for Christmas
Hmm... well, going to Florida for Christmas. I'll be back really soon though! Started watching Season 2 of 24 -- it is quite awesome! Umm, ok, buh bye. I will blog more in Florida, maybe.

100 spindle cd-rs from Best Buy for $7.99
Good deal of the week: 100 spindle cd-rs from Best Buy for $7.99 after rebates.
Umm... useless conference call this morning.
I have no life, no more to blog.

Whee, got a massage yesterday
Whee, got a massage yesterday--neck and shoulder. It felt SOOOO good. I wanted to fall asleep. Was a little painful in some places, but a good kind of pain. Hehe. Umm... yeah, eating a bagel and drinking a big-ass coffee. Anything else in life that is exciting? Well, I made my own marshmallows from scratch this past weekend and also made tiramisu. I am a culinary goddess (NOT). But, if we need to have a bakesale to come up with money for some condominium work that needs to be done... everyone needs to buy some stuff, ok? :)

I really feel bad for neglecting my blog.
I really feel bad for neglecting my blog. At the beginning, I blogged at least once a day! Well, Candy and I got our missing chair from our sofa set! I will take pictures and post them. What else has been going on? Umm... nothing...
Supposed to snow a lot this weekend, maybe six inches or more! Going to a cooking workshop, and then Sunday, invited some people over to hang out and watch movies and have hot chocolate. Should be pretty relaxing. Then, on Monday, because of successful completion of one phase of our project at work, I am getting a massage on my company. Wheee! It is just a 25 minute neck and shoulder massage, I don't think I could stand anything more. Day off, on Monday, as well... lunch and a movie with the team... should be nice. They are also going to a movie; but I don't know if I want to go or just have fun doing something else.

Thanksgiving
Hmm, first day back at work after the Thanksgiving holiday. Went to the "Black Friday" sales--which were just torture. Stood in line for TWO HOURS buying two dvd players and two portable mp3-cd players for $19.99 each. It was a great deal, and my parents wanted them... but, they went to McDonald's for breakfast while Candy and I stood in line for TWO HOURS. Hehe, evil parents... My mom got really in to it. She saw a couple of Best Buy employees on a ladder, handing down boxes of dvd players--and she asked another customer how much it was. When she heard it was $19.99--my mom got two. Crazy!!! :)
But besides that, Thanksgiving was a lot of fun... ate a lot of lobster (soooo yummy!). Glad to be back in Boston though. Saw Matrix Revolutions finally, yesterday--I thought it could have been better, but I still enjoyed it. It was very action filled and suspenseful. :) One year anniversary of my XBox and me... I should throw a party... And, lots of dvds to watch. Maybe Candy and I will have a hot chocolate party soon.
Hmm... now... some work to do? maybe?

Greetings from Florida.
Greetings from Florida. Some annoyances... the lobster I ordered for Thanksgiving was shipped to the wrong address! So, we called FedEx with the correct address... but still waiting for delivery. Annoying!
Hehe, funny thing... Candy forgot all her pants! So, she has that pair she wore down here, and some pants of our mom's that she can wear. Did she listen to me telling her the night before to pack instead of talk on the phone all night? Nooooo! Hehe, Candy forgot her pants! :p
HAPPY THANKSGIVING, everyone! Be back in Boston on Saturday.

Helloooo from Florida!
Helloooo from Florida! Got my parents (a.k.a. me) set up with DSL... it was almost painless. Now, I just have to figure out what things to do with the expert mode of the dsl modem to do some extra features, muah ha ha ha ha. :p Um... I guess that's it. It's hot down herre. I'm'a take off all my clothes.

Blaaaahhhh.
I think I'm in love!!! Besides my new found love, I've actually been doing some work at work... but, pretty much done now. Still planning for the brunch... more shopping tonight! Anything else going on? Not really. Blaaaahhhh.

grocery shoppin
Went grocery shopping this morning, Candy was complaining that I was slow. I was just moseying on along... a lot of things to buy, and coupons to check! You know me, I won't buy it unless it's on sale AND I have a coupon. Did some cleaning and laundry... preparations of brunch, again and again--but, it's a bit fun. :)
Also, working on this website and all of the others that I maintain. Starting to transfer a lot of the entries in my travel journal to my Amsterdam 2003 story. It's pretty boring... but, you can check it out.

Yeah, ok, so I'm a geek.
Been making a lot of improvements to the site... especially the picture galleries. Now, the pics will pop up in a new window, there is picture description support, cut down the size of the pictures to be views, but also have the option of downloading high res pictures if you want. Yeah, ok, so I'm a geek. :p Another side project I have been working on is a gift tracking system for the holidays and for birthdays. I finished it, and it is really cool.
Also, made yet another online form registration page for Candy, hehe. First, she asked me if "Can I do an online registration form for...", and then I said, "You, or me?". Hehe, yeah, turned out she wanted ME to do it. :p Blahhhh!
Other than that... anything going on? Ummmmmm, not really. Just preparing for the brunch...

sofas
Candy and I got our sofas today! They are really huge... I will take pictures of them later on, and show everyone. I think they are very comfortable, and they do fill out our living room.
Other than that, I have been preparing food (already!) for the brunch that Candy and I are having. I'll keep the menu a secret, though. :p

DVD tracking site
So, I've been really neglecting my blog... but I have been doing some really good things! I have been working on a DVD tracking site for candy and I... This is so friends (any of you within dvd-borrowing distance) can see our dvd's and even request to put them on hold. :p
Posted my pictures of my Amsterdam trip in my galleries. I really had an excellent time... Holland reminds me quite a bit of Boston in terms of atmosphere. I hope to go back there sometime soon. :) Nothing else going on, except trying to save money so I can do more traveling.

Returned from Amsterdam yesterday...
Returned from Amsterdam yesterday... Happy to be back home, but I also want to be back in Holland and back on vacation. I had the best time of my life. There were so many beautiful things to see, nice things to eat, relaxed a lot... More to come later. :)

Amsterdam 2003: Day 6
I went to the harbor to see all of the old ships and boats. It was very beautiful--I really do love the ocean, and have probably taken it so granted all my life. I wrote some more postcards. Had dinner of steak with sugar snap peas. Dessert was this yummy and super thick yogurt called "kwark"--I really enjoyed it a lot.

Amsterdam 2003: Day 5
Holly and I went to lunch at Hong Kong Corner, which is right next to the hotel--had a little dim sum and fried rice, quite yummy. Then, she left to go to the airport. Lars had his job interview and stopped by a tiny bit before, which was right in Dam Square at Fortis Bank. I took a bubblebath while he was at his interview, and then we went to Hoorn by train. We went to dinner at this "Tex Mex" restaurant, which twas the best meal I had there, probably--had red snapper (but never cooked so nicely) with rice in a tomato based sauce. For dessert, I had some profiteroles filled with ice cream and a chocolate sauce--was so nice, perfect birthday dinner!

Amsterdam 2003: Day 4
Went down to the Winter Garden for Sunday brunch -- expensive, 33 euro. It was really worth it, though... champagne breakfast with lots of amazing food in a really posh and fabulous winter garden (part of the hotel). Then we went shopping in a large department store -- really overwhelming, all those people and everything, but some really cute stuff. Also went to the Magna Center, more shopping. It was just a lot of people and not much to buy.
Checked out the red light district, where they have girls in windows. Reminds me of the places where you can get food from behind little glass windows... just put in a coin, and open the small door, and take the food. Well, the red light district reminds me of that. It isn't offensive at all, you get used to it after a few minutes, really. It's like a Macy's window--bit of live art. Sometimes bored art. This one prostitute had a little dog in the window to keep her company )well, at least I hope that was the reason the dog was there). This one bouncer shouted at Holly and I to see a show, he was even going to give us a discount, but, we passed. I think it would be rather boring.
Went back to the hotel to do a world of leisurely Chanel beauty stuff, mud mask, exfoliating, cleansing, radiance lotion, lotion, and eye lotion. It was fun... skin is off, just a relaxing beauty night for us.
Took a canal boat tour at night, which was just great and relaxing, but might have to go duringthe day in order to take more and better pictures. Took a little pass through the red light district at night, and was kind of the same as the day, but more guys gawking. It was pretty interesting to look at the guys gawking, look at what they are looking at, and I obviously don't see what they see. I just see a bored scantily clad woman sitting there.
Then, went looking for something to eat, but honestly, was still too full from brunch. So, we went back to the hotel and just relaxed. That brunch wasn't so expensive after all if that's all we had to eat all day!

Amsterdam 2003: Day 3
Walked to the Rijksmuseum, at at a pub, which was quite wonderful--called Marybelle. Had spicy meatballs and a "healthy" sandwich with cheese, ham, tomato, cucumber, pickels, toasted pinenuts--very excellent.
Walked to Vondelpark... visited the Rijksmuseum.
Ate dinner at Wagamama, a "Japanese" noodle soup place - quite good and rather cheap... Duck gyoza and spicy beef ramen, which was moreso one huge steak in the bowl. It was good but not as good as Vietnamese noodle soup, but I loved it because it was a NON-SMOKING restaurant!
Came back to the hotel and watched tv. Procrastinated about not getting dressed to go clubbing...
It was raining like mad and we took a cab from the hotel to Leidspeplein, where the Milkeweg was -- nice club (old warehouse -- Paradiso was an old church). Raincoat worked fabulously, stayed dry and warm, but too bad my friends didn't. :( Took a taxi back to the hotel around 3:30am (time change! really, 2:30am) and just talked until 5 am about stuffff.
Friday, October 24, 2003
Amsterdam 2003: Day 2
Went to dinner at Luden (shrimp croquette appetizer, duck with lentils and sage sauce, apples with orange sauce, tarragon, and pink peppercorns -- kind of weird).
Went to pubs... probably shouldn't have gone clubbing, but I did at Club Paradiso, and left after Beyonce's Crazy in Love -- I love that song!

Amsterdam 2003: Day 1, Traveling
How am I feeling now? Less scared, more excited. I had a lot of trepidtation wtih traveling internationally by myself, but it has passed now that I am on the plane. And guess what, everyone? I am a light packer! You should see how much other people bring as carry-ons and how they squish it in to overhead compartments. All I had was a small messenger bag and a little purse. I wonder what the hot meal is. I hope I don't throw up. I didn't throw up yesterday, so that's a good sign. I try not to cough to much, coughing + Asian = people think you have SARS. Honestly, I don't want to scare anyone, and I don't want to be quarantined. :)
Hmm, I looked up, and I think the lady next to me was reading what I was writing. Good thing it is dark and my handwriting isn't all that neat or big. Good thing I got antibacterial handwipes. I disinfected my hands, and just in case, I disinfected the tray table in front of me. Waiting for dinner, and then, I go to sleep. Goodnight.
I LEAVE FOR AMSTERDAM TODAY!!!!
I LEAVE FOR AMSTERDAM TODAY!!!! Thank you to all the people who have been supportive and encouraging about my trip. Feel free to send me a text message, either online or via email (617<mynumber>@mobile.att.net) if you know my mobile number, if not, just email me!
So excited... all packed, very ready, but also nervous about traveling alone. But, everything is all set with hotel and airline... once I get to the hotel and check in, I think I will be much better.
Yay! Birthday on Monday!!! :)

I leave TOMORROW for Amsterdam
So, haven't heard from me lately? I had a big sushi buffet dinner on Sunday--so full that I couldn't talk. Then Monday and Tuesday I stayed home from work because I was sick. I leave TOMORROW for Amsterdam, which is a little scary, since I haven't packed yet (because I have been sick)! Hehe, so I have to do all my packing tonight, but logistically, everything else is taken care of. I just need to get myself to the airport three hours early, and everything will be fine. Passport all set, lists for what to pack, all set. Contact info, is all set. Everything seems to be good, I just hope hope hope I am not too sick on the flight there or anything, and that I can get some sleep on the plane. :)

Ghost Recon
Played some Ghost Recon today. It was fun! Rob beat me 5 to 4, which was really good on my part! Well, ok, Rob let me shoot him once, so it was really 5 to 3. :p

comfy bed
I don't think there are enough pictures on my blog... so, here is a picture of my comfy bed, where I want to be right now!
I have actually rearranged my room a lot, so expect pictures to come out for that soon.
Big news about the Amsterdam trip??? I finally got a raincoat. :)
Hmm... I think Candy got me sick! *CRY* And, Eric left to go back to California today! But, I finished a bunch of work I had for this week this morning, so that makes me happy.

soymilk
Hmm... what's going on today? Candy is sick--get better, Candy! She is at home resting, while I'm at work. Work work work... Almost lunch time. What should I have for lunch? I had cream of wheat this morning for breakfast. But, I forgot to bring some soymilk to the office. :( Oh, well. I will drink some soymilk when I get home. I should really think about making my own soymilk.

"I'll read your blog, if you'll read mine"
Been helping Schlumpfie set up his website (router, blog tool, etc.), and I think he wants some advertisement, so you can hit his page, but after his domain name registration goes through, here. He seems to think that his website is more exciting than cream of wheat, but may I reiterate again that it only takes three tablespoons of cream of wheat to make a whole cup? Do people not understand the significance? :) Anyways, we made this pact of "I'll read your blog, if you'll read mine," which is pretty cool... since his blogs are usually shorter--and not everyday, so, looks like I got the better deal. :)
Hmm, trip to Amsterdam. I'm waiting for the value of the US dollar to go up before ordering any currency. Besides that, I am looking for the perfect raincoat--something with a hood, that looks nice so it can be dressy or casual, lined so it is warm, and at least falls to the knee for me. DO YOU KNOW HOW HARD THAT IS TO FIND? :p I think I have a backup one at Gap, if I can't find anything else. There is a cute down one at Eddie Bauer, but that can't be dressy, hmm? And, it might be too warm for late October in Amsterdam. And of course, clothes! That is going to be the hardest part... my trip is eight days, which is a pretty long time. Are eight bottoms and eight tops going to be enough? too much? And then, what about accessories? One purse? two? I'm already going to have three pairs of shoes. Maybe I should take a practice run at packing, to see what amounts to a half of a suitcase. Yes! that sounds like a plan.

cream of wheat
Started eating cream of wheat for breakfast... I like the peach flavor the best, but I got a box of regular, since I had a coupon for it. Did you know that only 3 Tbsp. of cream of wheat makes a whole cup? That's rather impressive, don't you think?

inefficient UPS
So, let me just say how inefficient UPS was this morning. Candy and I went to send three boxes to our parents, and there was a new computer system in place. So, we had to enter in the label information, but there was an error in the zip-code lookup (some database error, it seemed)! And so, we waited, and finally went to some other computer that worked. Then, we stood in line behind this annoying guy (customer) and incompetent woman (UPS worker). They went back and forth of how she did something wrong, or how some calculation wasn't right, how he would be charged for shipping even thought it was a COD. All very annoying! And all waiting... waiting... waiting... And all this time, other people could have helped us, but for some reason, they didn't go to the register. Finally, the pickup/delivery guy opened up a register to help us--but he could have done that 10 minutes prior! So, we finally were done 40 minutes after we first entered the store. I wonder who wrote their software--it is crappy! GRRRRRRR... Monday morning, start of the week.... BIGGGGG GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.
Ok... time to think happy thoughts about my vacation. :)

Some plans for the day
Some plans for the day--have to get dad's herbal medicine from a shop in Brighton, work at BR (only 4 hours, yay!), and then hanging out with Amanda.
Started a story/log of my trip to Amsterdam.

Wardrobe Planning
Yay, it is finally Friday! Working sucks... I need to get cracking on this startup venture that I have with two of my coworkers, and really get it going. You can only be fully satisfied if you work for yourself.
More planning for my trip to Amsterdam--I have been thinking a lot about my wardrobe. My goal is to only fill a maximum of one-half of my suitcase with my stuff (the rest will be empty or gifts for my friends in Europe) so I have room to fit things on my return trip. I think I have solved my shoe dilemma--I _will_ have three pairs of shoes on my trip. Yes, I know I only need two, but I want three. :) Now, I am going through my clothing plan. I am thinking of six bottoms (including one all-purpose black dress) and seven to ten tops (need to layer!). It will be pretty hard to pick multi-functional pieces... I think I will make a project of it and make little stickers with pictures of all the pieces, and then be able to make little mix and match cards. :) Next: accessories!

Hellooooo, all!
Hellooooo, all! Yay, my friend Holly, from England, has made her plans to come to Amsterdam, as well. It's going to be a really bitchin' time. :) She is coming the first weekend I will be there, and we just plan on having a lot of fun. I got my english/dutch dictionary, guidebook of Amsterdam, and a travel journal. I'm going to try to be very organized about my trip--but, I won't worry if I forget anything, I can just buy it in Amsterdam!
Work is going well today... no craziness (at least not for me). Hey, if you are reading this, and haven't signed my guestbook, you should do so. :p Hope you have a great day!

Amsterdam
So, getting really exciting about my trip to Holland. Was visiting this website that had tons of useful information, like how much to tip. I think I definitely want to go on a canal boat ride, a diamond tour, the Heineken factory tour, visit some castles and museums (Van Gogh is my favorite artist of all time!). There's also a Louis Vuitton store at this famous shopping street (PC Hooftstraat) in Amsterdam. But sadly, all of the stores close at 6pm :(. Anyways, so much more to do than shop.
I also want to visit Chinatown--there is a Buddhist Temple there... and eat the Indonesian Rice Tablef (table)--where you have rice and lots of little dishes of meat and veggies. I think it'll be great. And, eat a lot of bread and cheese and coffee and chocolate. :) I also want to go to castles and markets. Wheee... and of course, get wooden shoes for all my friends. :)

I quit!
I quit my job at Banana! I am a much better shopper than I am a worker... :) I still am a responsible person, so I am going to work two more weeks for them, and that's it. Now, I have to see what to get with my discount. I was so mad when I heard that they don't give free alterations to employees even if you have a Luxe card!
I'm a little tired this morning, since Candy and I tried to get to work early... and we did. But, I didn't get enough sleep because I was watching the season premiere of Charmed. Oh, and we made our wonderful summer veggie soup last night... it was so good. I had two bowls for dinner, and I have it for lunch today, so I can't wait. I also brought mini carrots and celery sticks to have with veggie dip. I also got a pecan pie yesterday, so I can't wait to get home and eat that, too. :) Almost lunch time, and I'm hungry.

Friday, BR, Amsterdam
YAY, it is finally Friday! I am really happy about that. Have to work at Banana Republic tomorrow night, but that's not so bad. I am really really sleepy right now, I woke up in the middle of the night and started stressing about my trip to Amsterdam, in all the normal ways, and didn't fall back to sleep easily. YAWN.

Workplace communication
So, people often call me at work if they have a problem like, "I can't see the UI", "I can't login", "My server doesn't start up", and "I can't build." I've compiled a checklist of troubleshooting questions to ask people who call me, in this order:
(1) Is your computer on?
(2) Is your monitor on?
(3) Did you try to hit refresh on your browser?
(4) Do you have that file checked out?
Hehe... :p
So, I love it when Rob starts talking to me about some performance testing we need to do on our application, and then he just stops. He says he has too many parallel processes going, and I'm a suspended thread. Well, FINE.
And then, on the other hand, Sarkis was talking to me about something, and then he continues to talk to me... but the funny thing was, I wasn't there in my office.
So... this just goes to show you what kind of communication is going on at my workplace (or, lack thereof). :p

Amsterdam
I have finally finalized my plans to travel to Amsterdam--going at the end of October (for my birthday). I am soooo excited. I purchased the tickets and made hotel reservactions! I will also get to see my friend, Holly, from the UK.
Wheee... my officemate's mom is in town, and he took the day off--so I can blast my JLo cd without censorship!
Did anyone see Queer Eye last night? It was soooo funny, the funniest one yet. I swear, that guy was hopeless. He broke all of the expensive, vintage barware that Ted got for him... and he could not make drinks worth anything. He made a gin and tonic for his gf's mother that was two-thirds gin and one part tonic! And, the dad wanted a whiskey on the rocks, and it was a bigggg glass! hehe... hopeless.

Amsterdam
Closer and closer to finalizing my plans for a trip to Amsterdam at the end of October. I am really looking forward to taking a real vacation by myself, and relaxing and seeing new places. Hmm... not much going on today at work. We are in a testing and bug fixing stage, or supporting other things and fixing other minor issues.
I made a shower curtain for my bathroom last weekend... I am pretty cheap. :p I won't buy a $20 shower curtain because I can make one for like $5. :) It looks rather good though, since I couldn't find one that I wanted anyways.

Steel Baton
So, kind of sleepy today. I don't think I've fully recovered from the weekend... lots of working and shopping, but I keep on meeting more and more people that I like at BR.
I also got my extendible steel baton today that my coworker ordered for me--he got one, too. Now, we just have to find some people who need a beat down. Hehe. It's really cool... it expands to 21" and contracts to 8.5" or so. It is black and looks tough, good grip, and sturdy.

Banana Republic
So, tonight at Banana was a lot better than my first night--I think the people working there were much more normal. :) I am a lot happier. They had scheduled me to work tomorrow, too!! But, I got them to cancel it... So, I don't have to work for a whole week, but next Saturday, I have to work from 2pm-10pm, which is pretty damn sucky. I think that I will go and buy some clothes tomorrow, yay! Alrightie, sleep time...
Fall
So, I got up at 8am today, which is way too early considering I went to sleep around 2 or 3 am. Thankfully, I did all of the dishes and everything, and the house is pretty clean. I plan on doing some vaccuuming and dusting today... exciting, right? Maybe some shopping for shoes!
Again, I hope I don't have to work tonight at Banana, I think I need a rest. But, I've decided to try to have a better attitude towards it, and maybe I can manage to work there for a whole month!
It's supposed to get pretty warm today, 80F... but I want it to be cooler. I love fall, so I can't wait until the weather is more autumn-ish. This year, I'll really try to take some pictures of leaves turning colors. Now though, I just have to see if I want to take a nap now and have coffee later, or just have coffee now.. and hope I am not too tired later. Decisions decisions. :p

Rain
Rain, rain, go away, come again another day... Well, at least I had a bowl of ramen noodles at my desk so I didn't have to go out and get lunchie. :)
Thursday, September 18, 2003
Folding clothes
So, can arms be sore from folding too many clothes? Well, mine are. :) Hehe, my coworkers don't think I'm going to last until the end of the year... End of the year? I say a month--tops. Enough to get my clothes at a discount and then get outta there.
Funny saying of the day: "Upsidedown thumbs-up... I guess that would be a thumbs-down." Hehe, okay, well, I thought it was funny. :)
Candy is going to be going on a little retreat to NH on Friday... Friends are coming over for dinner Friday night. Then, I am "on-call" on Saturday night, which probably means they will use me--but, I certainly hope not, since I need a break.
Hope there's some interesting (and not too annoying) things going on at work today.
